New Foods and Recipes for Hannukah

I'm happy to share with you some new foods that were especially launched for the Hannukah holiday with their recommended recipes.

Walnut Oil by 'Greeny' and the Recipe for Apple Latkes or Fritters


The oil, made by the Austrian Alpha GH Company, is produced from premium walnuts and is suitable for frying, seasoning and cooking a variety of foods. The oil is very suitable for frying latkes/fritters and donuts.


KOSHER CERTIFICATE: Under the supervision of Badatz Beit Yosef and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.


PRICE: 24.90-19.90 NIS per one liter bottle.


The oil is available in several natural food chain stores in Israel.


Greeny's Recipe for Apple Latkes/Fritters


Ingredients:

  • 3 green apples (Granny Smith), peeled and grated

  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup self-raising flour

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 7% or sour cream 9%

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/5 teaspoon white pepper

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Greeny's Purified Walnut Oil for frying

  • To serve: sugar powder or maple

Preparation:

  • Squeeze the grated apples well to remove the liquid. Scramble the eggs in a small bowl.

  • Mix all the ingredients except the flour, and only then add flour.

  • Heat the oil in a pan about 4 cm high for half-deep frying (as for schnitzels). Place a tablespoon in the pan, and fry for about a minute - on each side, until the latke is golden-brown.

  • Serve with powdered sugar and / or real maple syrup.

Organic White Spelt Flour by 'Tvuot' and Recipes for Hannukah Latkes and Donuts

Spelt is an ancient strain of grain. White spelt flour has a higher protein content than white wheat flour, and is richer in vitamins and minerals. The flour is made from organic grown spelt and is free of pesticides or harmful chemicals.


KOSHER CERTIFICATE: Under the supervision of Badatz Belz and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.


PRICE: 12.90 NIS for a packaging weighing 500 grams.


Available at nature stores across the country.


A Recipe for Potato, Carrot, Onion and White Organic Spelt Flour Latkes/Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized potatoes (a variety intended for frying), peeled and grated

  • 2 carrots, washed and grated

  • 1 large, shredded onion

  • 2 medium sized whisked eggs

  • 1/2 cup Organic White Spelt Flour by 'Tvuot'

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon black or white pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon of crystalline garlic

  • Oil for frying

Preparation:

  • Squeeze the vegetables to remove liquids and mix.

  • Add eggs and seasoning. Add white organic spelt flour.

  • Take a scoop and flatten into a latke/fritter.

  • Heat oil about 4 cm high in the pan and when hot, fry the latkes.

  • Lower the fire to a medium flame. When the latke/fritter is golden-brown on one side, flip over.

  • Take out and place on a plate lined with absorbent paper. Serve immediately.

  • Optional - Add 1/2 cup freshly chopped herbs to the mixture.

Yogurt Donuts with Organic White Spelt Flour by 'Tvuot'

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups of Organic White Spelt Flour by 'Tvuot'

  • 1 bag of 10 gram baking powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups of Greek yogurt cups (400 mL)

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 2 tablespoons brandy

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Oil for frying

  • Optional - Add cinnamon powder or lemon zest from half a lemon

Preparation

  • Mix all ingredients well until smooth and without flour lumps.

  • Heat oil in a deep saucepan. The oil should be hot - but not boiling.

  • Using 2 greased spoons, take from the batter with one spoon, and push into the oil with the other spoon. Be sure to prepare the donuts with the spoons right next to the hot oil. Lower the flame to medium intensity and fry on both sides, until golden brown.

  • Take out a plate lined with absorbent paper. Transfer to a serving plate.

  • Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup orjam or roll in brown or white sugar when the donut is hot.

Ingredients

  • 250 g 9% spreadable white cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 teaspoon of Neptune's hot paprika

  • 1 teaspoon of Neptune's sweet paprika

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon Neptune's white pepper

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients. Correct seasoning if needed.


Madras Mayonnaise Curry Dip

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup quality mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon of Neptune's Madras Curry

  • 1/5 tsp Neptune's black pepper

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of natural maple syrup

  • 1-2 teaspoons of squeezed lemon juice

  • Salt (only if needed)

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients. Correct seasoning if needed.


Tahini, Date Syrup and Cinnamon Dip

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup raw tahini

  • 1/2 cup 100% date syrup

  • 3 - 4 tablespoons of water

  • 1/4 - 1/3 teaspoon of Neptune's minced cinnamon

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients. Correct seasoning if needed.
