Tel-Aviv: The International Dance Competition 'AmsterDans' is Taking Place this Year in Israel

The international dance competition, 'AmsterDans' is considered one of the leading and oldest in the field, one that has led several of its particpants to international dance careers.


Uzi Nissim, owner of Virtuoz, a company that produces dance events, was chosen to produce the competition that will be held for the first time in Israel on Feb 12-13, 2020 (Wednesday - Thursday) at the Arison Campus of the Arts in Tel Aviv. Tickets can be purchased for the final gala event.

Hundreds of dancers from across the country will take part in several categories including: solo, small group and large group dancing classical ballet, modern dance and contemporary jazz.


The competition is divided into two age groups: 12-15 and 16-18.

Winners of the competition in Israel will be able to participate in the AmsterDans competition in March 2020 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Among the top judges to take part in the competition is Benito Marcelino, former soloist in the official ballet bands of the Netherlands and Stuttgart Ballets, Gary Feingold of AmsterDans owners, Sabina Feingold former dancer of the Bat-Dor dance troupe in Israel, the Director of the Amsterdam dance competition and Oren Lazowski, dancer and choreographer from Berlin.


The final competition will be held on March 13 at 19:00 pm as part of an impressive gala event, where tickets can be purchased at the Arison Arts Campus.


Uzi Nissim, owner of VirtuOz has explained that the AmsterDans dance competition is a serious platform for exposing students to professional and uncompromising work. Through it the dance students are promoted and encouraged to excellence in their field.


The event will feature dances in the classical ballet and modern dance categories of the middle school and high school ages from the country's leading dance schools.


As the judges go out to decide on the winners, an artistic performance will be held by dancers from the professional dance program of the Bikurey Ha'Itim Arts Center, Tel Aviv managed by artistic directors Naomi Perlov and Offir Dagan.


The international judges will award the winners afterwards.
