A Spicy Independence Day

Hi there,

The 'Neptune' company (1980) that specializes in the development, production and marketing of spices, seasonings, spreads and sauces, is offering a special spice blend with fancy grinder to upgrade your Independence Day barbeque.

The new spice blend is called "Montreal Steak Seasoning". The blend contains, among other things, black pepper, coarse salt, crystalline garlic and dry onion, and is free of monosodium glutamate or preservatives. The piquant blend, which is especially suitable for steak seasoning, can also be used for seasoning other meat, chicken, pullets, fish and side dishes on the barbecue, griddle pan or oven grill. The spice blend can be found in the supermarket chains, select stores and their websites.

PRICE: 11.90-13.90 NIS per 100-150g package.

KOSHER CERTIFICATE: The products are kosher under the supervision of the Chief Rabbinate of Beersheba and Badatz Beit Yosef.

A Steak Recipe Using the Montreal Steak Seasoning Blend

  • Take 1.5 cm thick steaks. Use fresh cuts such as rib-eye or rump steak at room temperature or chilled, but not refrigerated else the meat will lose water and shrink.

  • Wipe the steaks with a paper towel. Then brush with quality olive oil. Massage with Neptune's "Montreal Steak Seasoning".

  • Place on a HOT barbecue grill or on a griddle pan so that it makes a hissing sound when placed. Roast on each side 3 - 4 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of the pan.

  • Wait a few minutes before eating (I'm not sure why...).

Happy Independence Day! Talma
