Pure Organic Maple Syrup by 'Tvuot'

Tvuot, a company that specializes in organic and natural food products, is launching a new product: 'Pure Organic Maple Syrup'. The syrup is extracted from maple trees grown in Canada, and is 100% pure and organic, with no additives.

According to naturopath Tal Ben David, pure maple syrup contains a variety of minerals, including: iron, calcium, zinc, potassium and magnesium. Maple contains a lot of sugar, but is better than plain sugar (white or brown) due to its slightly lower glycemic index (similar to honey).

Maple syrup is used as a sweet topping of a variety of sweet dishes: classically for pancakes, but also cakes, cookies, Belgian waffles etc. Also, similar to the use of honey and date syrup, maple syrup is used in a variety of savoury foods such as salad dressing, marinades for chicken or oven-baked salmon, seasoning for baked orange vegetables and more.

Tvuot have provided a recipe for vegan homemade chocolate.

KOSHER CERTIFICATE: Parve under the supervision of the London Court of Justice and with the approval of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Available at retail chains, natural stores and select stores across the country.

Tvuot's Vegan Homemade Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup organic cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup cold pressed organic coconut oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon quality vanilla extract

  • 4 - 5 tablespoons of Tvuot's organic maple syrup

Preparation:

  • Bring the coconut oil to a liquid state using a bain-marie, if needed. When coconut oil is kept at a temperature below 24 degrees it crystallizes and must be melted. In the Israeli summer it should be melted only if stored in the refrigerator.

  • Mix the liquid coconut oil with the cocoa and vanilla powder, until it is uniform.

  • Cool the batter for 5 minutes on the counter and then place in the fridge for 25 minutes.

  • Remove from the refrigerator and mix in the maple.

  • Pour the batter into silicone trays designed for pralines, and fill each well almost to the brim.

  • Place in the freezer for 1.5-2 hours. When you wish to serve chocolate take out as many pralines as you wish for plating and return the rest to the freezer (otherwise the chocolate will melt).

  • Variations: When adding the maple, you can add one of the following toppings to some of the wells: a sprinkle of crystalline salt, lemon or orange zest, chopped pistachios, pecans or walnuts etc.

'ONLY' Non-Dairy Yoghurt by 'Yofix'

About two years after launching its series of probiotic non-dairy yoghurts 'ONLY', the company "Yofix", marketed in Israel by Strauss Dairy, is launching a new flavor that is joining the series: ONLY strawberry. The new non-dairy soy-free probiotic yoghurt is based on plant-based raw materials including whole oats, lentils, seeds and fruits and is enriched with probiotic bacteria similar to yoghurt. It does not contain stabilizers or food coloring.

The new strawberry flavor is joining the peach and pinapple flavors that already comprise the ONLY series. Today, the series is a success in the market for milk substitutes and the new strawberry-flavor received the maximum score in a tasting test conducted among the vegan audience in collaboration with the Vegan Friendly Association. In addition to the non-dairy yoghurts, the series includes two ONLY probiotic drinks, one with strawberries and raspberries and another with strawberries and banana.

According to Dr. Assaf Boch, a nutritionist and preventive medicine researcher, clinical dietitian and nutritional consultant for Yofix, in long-term development the group's entrepreneurs have succeeded in producing a non-dairy soy-free yoghurt based on plant ingredients with high nutritional value such as: whole oats, lentils, coconut and sesame. All the ingredients are preserved naturally, thanks to the fermentation process of probiotic bacteria (bifidobacteria and lactobacillus). This bacterial composition has been found in scientific studies to be associated with an improvement in immune and gastrointestinal function. Moreover, the product has a relatively low level of processing compared to yoghurts in general and dairy-free yoghurts in particular and its consumption may help in adopting a more sustainable eating pattern, Mediterranean and plant-based, as acknowledged among nutritionists and the medical community.

The ONLY series targets audiences that avoid or reduce milk and its products whether due to allergies, sensitivities, vegetarians or vegans who would like to maintain a varied diet that includes plant-based probiotic yoghurts. ONLY products can be included in the daily menu as a muesli base, smoothie base or dessert and with many other uses in every meal of the day.

ONLY is a product developed by Yofix, a company that develops milk substitutes, in collaboration with Strauss. The series is produced in a dedicated production line that was established with an investment of about 2 million NIS. As part of an ecological vision, in the production process of ONLY products there is no waste of raw materials and no production of waste. Yofix has recently won international awards for the ONLY series, including the Innovation Award from the world's leading food exhibition 'Enoga' and an innovation competition from the global PepsiCo company.

According to Steve Green, CEO of Yofix: "The milk substitute market in Israel and around the world is experiencing unprecedented growth compared to the food sector. In the last half of the year, the market in Israel grew by 32%, compared to mid-2019. Yofix aims to produce environmentally friendly plant products that provide quality nutrients, with a relatively low level of processing. After tastings and focus groups, we are pleased to launch the new strawberry flavor, the leading flavor in the yoghurt category in Israel."
