Rosh Hashanah 2020: Foods and Recipes

Some of my favourite brands are coming out with new foods for Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays. I've included a few recipes. Here are the details:

'Garlic Honey Sauce' and Seasoning Blends by Neptune

Neptune (1980), a company that specializes in the development, production and marketing of spices, seasonings, spreads and sauces, is introducing a wonderful 'Garlic Honey Sauce' as well as quality seasoning mixes for the preparation of festive dishes. They've even provided a few recipes that can help you determine your holiday menu.


Garlic Honey Sauce - The sauce contains salt, lemon salt, garlic, honey, tomato sauce and more. It is suitable for cooking and seasoning especially in marinades.


Lemon Pepper Blend - This seasoning contains black pepper and lemon for those who love a combination of sour and spicy in their dishes. The mixture is typical of South African dishes and is suitable for meat, chicken, fish, rice, cooked vegetables and salads.


Philadelphia Blend - This seasoning contains paprika, garlic, mustard seeds, cumin, peppers and more. The aromatic mixture originates from New Orleans, USA and is spicy and sweet. It is suitable for seasoning all types of meat, poultry, fish, potatoes, rice, stir-fries, oven-baked vegetables, pies as well as salads such as cabbage and fresh beet salad.

Neptune's Juicy Salmon in Olive Oil and Garlic Honey Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg salmon fillets

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • 1 Garlic Honey Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of Neptune's soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon butter or parve alternative

Preparation:

  • Mix all the ingredients except the teaspoon of olive oil and massage the fillet pieces. Place in a bowl and cover with a plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

  • Heat a heavy non-stick skillet. Only when it is hot add a teaspoon of olive oil and place the fillet pieces inside with the skin side down (even if the skin is removed) and sufficient spacing. If necessary fry in more than one round.

  • Fry for 5 minutes on one side, turn over and fry for another 3 minutes exactly. The fish can be served at room temperature. If prepared in advance and the intention is to heat the fish later in the oven, fry for only 4 minutes on one side and 2 minutes on the other side so that the fish does not dry out when reheating.


Neptune's Brussel Sprouts in Philadelphia Seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of frozen Brussels sprouts

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon Neptune Philadelphia spice blend

  • 1 teaspoon cooking salt

  • A little Atlantic salt

Preparation:

  • Steam the brussels sprouts in boiling salty water (add a pinch of salt to the water) for about 10 minutes. Remove, cool and cut in two.

  • Heat a heavy non-stick pan. When it is hot, add the oil, wait a few seconds and add the brussel sprouts. Sprinkle the Philadelphia blend and stir-fry for about 3 minutes.

  • Place in a suitable serving dish and sprinkle over a little Atlantic salt. Serve hot or at room temperature.

  • For a dairy meal, you can add a tablespoon of butter towards the end of the frying and serve with grated Parmesan cheese.


Neptune's Gnocchi Seasoned with the Lemon Pepper Blend

Ingredients:

  • 2 packs of gnocchi prepared according to the package instructions

  • 1 sliced ​​onion and / or 8 scallions (white part only) - cut in half and sliced ​​lengthwise

  • 4 -5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon Neptune's Lemon Pepper Blend

  • 1/2 cup walnuts, seared in a pan

  • Some basil leaves, cut lengthwise

Preparation:

  • Fry the onion till transparent. While the gnocchi are still hot, mix with the onion and oil in which it is fried. Add the pepper-lemon blend and mix gently.

  • Place in a serving bowl, and sprinkle over the seared walnuts and fresh basil.

  • For a dairy meal, you can add a tablespoon of butter towards the end of the frying and serve with grated Parmesan cheese.


'Honey Cake' and a 'Sesame Spread with Honey' by Achva

'Packaged Malabi Desserts' by 'Andre Ice Cream'

The Andre ice cream chain will be marketing their famous Malabi dessert in individual packages alongside their complementary Malabi syrup.


The story of the Malabi dessert began when Andre's parents, the founder of the Andre ice cream chain {Jaffa, Ramat Gan, Rishon Lezion, Ramla}, used to cook Malabi at his home, pack it and take it by cart for sale through the streets of Jaffa to sell to the residents of the city.
