Samaria: Grizim and Gewurztraminer Part 1

Hi there!

I took a short day trip to Samaria again. It's under an hour's drive away from the center, but historically it has so much to offer and the mountain air is just lovely, not only for the grapes.

Trip Itinerary

  • Tura Vineyard and Winery

  • Mt. Gerizim National Park

  • Additional Sites

Trip Details

Tura Vineyard and Winery The Tura winery is the Estate Winery of Vered and Erez Ben Saadon. Established in 2003, it's vineyards produce award winning red and white wines from grapes grown in the optimal climatic conditions of the local Samarian mountains. I last visited the Tura winery during the olive harvesting season in Hannukah when they were gearing up for preparation of their extra virgin olive oil. You can read about it here.

For the Passover holiday, the general public is invited to visit the Tura winery where free activities will be held for the children and parents, such as wine and olive tasting and a meeting with the owners Vered and Erez Ben Saadon. Erez and Vered will tell you a bit about the history of the winery, about the production of wines, about different varieties of red and white wines as well as wine pairing with meat or dairy dishes. A special film will be presented to the children explaining the process of wine production in the winery. The Kosher certificate of the wines is provided by Badatz Beit Yosef, OU, Rabbi Unger and Rabbi of Rechelim.

Next to the winery is an artificial spring dedicated to Eyal Yifrach, which you can include in your visit. The spring overlooks the green Samarian Mountains and is surrounded by a lawn, a shaded area, barbecue and poike corners and picnic tables.

The Passover activities at the Tura Winery will take place on 21-24 April 2019 between 09:00-17:00 and on 25 April 2019 between 10:00-13:00. Free entrance.

During the rest of the year, the winery also offers full meals for groups and can seat up to 55 people inside and more outside.

The packages or any of the Tura products can be purchased at selected stores, at the winery, by phone (052-7966613) or via the online Hebrew website. To read about Mt. Gerizim and additional sites, you are welcome to read Part 2.
