The T-Shirt Reveal

This year, for the first time, the Tel-Aviv-Jaffa City Sports Authority called on city residents to take part in designing this year's marathon t-shirt to enable them to get involved and influence the spirit and atmosphere of the marathon. The chosen design, created by Nina Spector, a Tel Aviv resident who will run in the marathon, was printed on a "NIKE" shirt and revealed at the official press conference.

Marathon Info

According to data from the KPM Active company, as of today, more than 30,000 participants have already secured their place, a considerable increase in registration compared to this period last year.

As a member of the Association of International Marathons A (AIMS), the Samsung Tel Aviv-Jaffa marathon includes elite runners who will try to break the marathon record (two hours, 10 minutes and 30 seconds) set by the Kenyan runner William Kiprono Yegon in 2015 and has been standing ever since.

The starting point for all the race courses will be located on Rokach Boulevard between Ganei Yehoshua Park and the Tel-Aviv fairgrounds, from where the runners will proceed to tracks marked by colors that will differentiate them and pass through the central sites of the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa. Along the route, runners will also pass through Rothschild Boulevard, Tel Aviv-Jaffa Port and the seashore, Reading Promenade, Joshua Gardens Park, Dizengoff Street, Rabin Square, Hayarkon Street, Ibn Gvirol Street, Old Jaffa and Jaffa Port. The Samsung Tel Aviv-Jaffa Marathon is one of the only marathons in the world with 10 km of its course running alongside the beach.

Throughout the race courses, runners will enjoy music stages and water-stands sponsored by the Mey Eden company. The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality continues to encourage the city's sports culture and therefore, thousands of Tel Aviv-Jaffa school students will take part in encouraging runners throughout the route and contribute to the festive atmosphere that surrounds the city. The marathon will end at the Ganei Joshua parking lot (across from the exhibition gardens), where tens of thousands of participants and supporters will be awaiting a spectacular finish that includes music, VIP complexes and sale stands of sports and active lifestyle products.

The Mini-Marathon

The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Mini Marathon for children will be held at Sarona Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, with about 2,000 boys and girls running in two race courses of 500 and 1,000 meters. The event will include entertainment areas and fun activities for the whole family. There will also be a course for children with disabilities and their families.

The Marathon's Social Track and "Pass It On" Project

The Samsung Tel Aviv-Jaffa Marathon continues this year to embrace dozens of nonprofit organizations and support social engagement and community donation. The social race course enables marathon participants to take advantage of their participation in the race for fundraising for various nonprofit organizations.

The Social Track allows any runner registered for one of the marathon events to sign up for the social track as donors to the association of their choice from a list of associations, set a goal to donate and call friends, family and acquaintances to donate for the chosen association.

This year, unlike previous years, all donations will be made through the marathon website and will be fully communicated to the nonprofit organization. This will enable the fundraisers to know how many donations have been made through them, and whether they have met their goals.

New associations are constantly joining the social track, so everyone can find a cause to identify with and run for. Running a marathon takes hours. Donating only a few minutes can change lives.

Among the nonprofits taking part this year: ELIA (For Children with Blindness or Visually Impaired), Natal (Trauma Victims of Terror and War.), Na Laga'at for the deaf and blind, Otot (A Door to a New Life), Enosh (for Mental Health), Haruach Hayisraelit (the Israeli Spirit), Sunrise, Beit Almog Shiloni, Tnu LaChayot Lichyot Dog Shelter, Zichron Menachem, Hiyot (aiding the Ethiopian community), Hayim (“Life”) Association (for Children with Cancer), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Israel, WIZO, Etgarim-Challenge, The Jordan River Village, Women's Spirit, Beit Issie Shapiro, IDF Widows and Orphans Organization and more.

In addition, this year there will be a "Pass It On" project inviting runners to refresh their wardrobe and donate running jerseys, sweats and sportswear to the marathon registration booths in the malls or on the day of the race. The KPM Active company undertakes to seal, fold and transfer them to nonprofit organizations for the needy.

The distribution of runners' kits will take place in several centers to allow runners to collect the kits easily and conveniently. The runners' kit includes: a drawstring bag, a "NIKE" sweat-proof running shirt, a personal chest number, a one-time electronic measuring chip and a host of treats, promotions and benefits.

The marathon event initiated by the Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality and produced by the applause Company will be accompanied by approximately 5,000 production, security, stewardship and medical personnel throughout the course.
