Tel-Aviv: The Olympic Experience

Hi there,

I am happy to share with you where I went for Purim this year. I found a great place with free parking, air-conditioning and a coffee bar and registered with a friend and her two kids.

The Olympic Experience is a visitors center in Tel-Aviv that invites people to learn about the history of the Olympic Games and to experience what it physically means to be an olympic athlete in a guided tour that includes hands-on activities and a 4D multi-sensory display.

Tel-Aviv: The Olympic Experience

The tour itself takes 1 hour. Before you start, the waiting area includes screens with trivia questions to keep you busy.

The tour is divided into 5 spaces, like the olympic rings. The first is the "Ring of Experience". In it, you are provided with devices that test your explosive strength, reaction speed, stamina and concentration ability (biofeedback method). The guide tells you what the average scores are for common people and for Olympic Athletes. I won't tell you what they are, but I rocked the concentration test.

The second space is the "History Ring" with lots of fun facts about the evolvement of the olympic games in ancient Greece and their renewal in the Modern Era.

The third space is the "Ring of Glory", a beautiful review of the greatest moments in the olympic games of all times.

The fourth space is dedicated to the "Israeli Ring" introducing you to the history of Israel's involvement in the Olympic Games, including both the 1972 tragedy and the Israeli success stories of its current Olympic Medallists and their personal backgrounds.

Last, but not least, the "Future Ring" presents the spirit of the Olympic Games for future generations.

At the end, you can purchase some Israeli Olympic memorabilia for yourselves or as unique gifts. My friend and I stayed at the coffee bar afterwards and the kids had ice-cream.

The tour requires advance reservation and is suitable from ages 6 and up. Guidance is in Hebrew/English and is also accessible to the handicapped.
