Tufina: Healthy Gluten Free Products

Hi there,

As a celiac, I am delighted to share with you a new series of gluten free products that have been baked with attention to overall health. If you go over the ingredients on food labels, you'll be surprised to see that several gluten free products contain starches, salt, sugar or artificial sweeteners so although they are good for people who are allergic or sensitive to gluten, they are not necessarily healthy overall.

Just to complete the background, "gluten" is a family of proteins found in grains like wheat, rye, spelt and barley. If someone is intolerant to gluten, he/she should avoid exposure by eating "gluten-free" products. However, if these products contain sugar and starches they may cause obesity and other health problems related to the increase in the levels of glucose in the blood.

Tufinit - Pastries without flour and sugar Up until two years ago, Dikla ran a big business until she developed health issues and was instructed to avoid sugar and flour. After searching in supermarkets, nature stores and other places where she hoped to find food that would meet the new criteria yet provide satiety, she realized that there was a void in the market.

Dikla decided to do for herself and for others and opened "Tufina", a business of baked goods and doughs (in Hebrew "Tufinim") while studying natural nutrition professionally. By personal oversight, Dikla ensures that the products are not only gluten free, but are made from wholesome natural ingredients that do not contain processed sugar, starches or flour.

So what do her products contain?

The only ingredients used by Dikla for baking Tufina products are purely natural and include: nuts, almonds, sesame seeds, coconut, flax seeds, coconut oil, tahini and the like. The components do not go through undue processing other than picking them from the tree, grinding, and baking. The sweeteners she uses are stevia and erythritol, that are natural sweeteners that do not raise blood glucose.

The range of options is very wide. She has a large variety of cookies, with nuts or almonds, chocolate cookies (85% dark chocolate) and sesame cookies. There also are pita bread, bourekas and other pastries. Most importantly, they all taste good so that you don't feel like you are missing out on anything. The taste is delicate and not too sweet. All the baked goods and cookies, including the pita bread and bourekas, are handmade by Dikla and her staff and can be frozen without loss of flavor.

These new health products are a godsend for all people who want to eat healthy, whether due to allergies or other health considerations or just general awareness. They're for people who have come to the realization that eating healthy on a regular basis will save future problems. Why eat sugars and starches if there is an easier, healthier, and no less delicious alternative.

Dikla's vision is to expand and make her products accessible nationwide. In the meantime, you can order the products by phone and receive the order by courier. Also, soon orders will be available from a website.

Personally, I wish her good luck.

Best, Talma
